Oliver James Platt is a Canadian-born American actor known for his performances in the films ‘Dr. Dolittle,' ‘The Ice Harvest' and ‘Casanova,' the last of which garnered him a Boston Society of Film Critics Award nomination. Born to a career diplomat and a clinical social worker, Platt moved to the USA when he was three months old. Platt studied at a progressive boarding school and later majored in drama at Tufts University before beginning his career with Off-Broadway productions and regional theatre plays. With time, he ventured into the world of television and films as well. In a career spanning over three decades, the actor has appeared in numerous memorable films and television shows. Behind the screen, the talented actor is a father of three. He hails from a family of famous personalities; his ancestors include artist Charles A. Platt, equestrian Arthur Scott Burden, socialite Cynthia Roche, and lawyer Joseph Hodges Choate. He is also associated with Diana, Princess of Wales, through his great-great-grandparents.
