Based on Xxx is a biggy. There's Based on Novel, Based on Comic Book, Based on Short Story, Based on Graphic Novel, Based on Series Originally Created By, Based on Movie...

This would right now be overkill to add and enter :)

It'd be overkill even down the road. Hopefully that will lend itself to some kind of attribute field. Based On, and then an attribute field to fill in the rest.

But if you change Developer to Developed By in the database, you'll change everyone that is currently and correctly assigned to Developer so that they're wrong. So you'd have to add a second credit, Developed By.
And I used Developer to indicate a Series Developer, because the latter isn't available. So if it was corrected, it would say the crew member was Developed By, and they're still wrong.
So you can't make a correction without... umm, in-correcting other things. :) You have to Add, which a) takes longer, and b) creates a potential proliferation of credits. If you've got one addition, and I've got one addition, and 500 contributors each have a different one each...
Or am I misunderstanding something? What do you do with your DB with variants (Developer/Developed By/Series Developer)?

I didn't think of that. Can you point me to an example where it was actually a "developper" credited for a recent show ?

Then you're absolutely right. So scratch that idea. I still don't like developper, but that's me, i can deal with my frustration on my own ;)

But i reiterate, i have not seen developer on a show (in..... ever) and i handle a lot of them. That's why i asked for the change. And i totally believe you when you say that it is being used.

Our site :

We have "developped by" at the episode level. Creator at both levels. No variations, you choose one and you stick by it? Nitpicking is what i said, right, right ;)

We don't have developped by at show level because when we thought of the production crew ten years ago : we only thought of the main categories : creator, producer, executive producer, co executive producer, music, performer of the theme song, writer of the theme song and studios. That's it.

But i don't compare our db to this or imdb. It would be utterly stupid. Not the same league at all. But i do know how this type of db may work, so i can say this doesn't take long, but i know this would etc. I don't know if that makes sense? When you have the man power that imdb or tvmaze is starting to get, you can, if you choose to, decide to have every variation possible. I'm curious, i'm gonna check imdb to see what they have. They do have based on etc.... They go very far on that one but not sure on developped by or creator.

But overall, you're right, it would force a correction on a lot of shows where "developper" was actually the correct credit. So bah humbug ! :D

Well, the new season is starting in the U.S., so I'll keep an eye out for Developer.

But even if it's not being used now, you still have older shows that used it (or Series Developer). So you're kinda stuck with it no matter what.

Hi, just wanted to check before i sent a request. There is a list for the anime show Kenichi witch has 50 episodes but there are no OVA's that continue the story of the anime. Should I add the OVA's to the existing show or should i request a new to be opened for just the OVA'a?

Thanks

I would suggest to list them as specials, that is the easiest way to handle it.

cheers
Juan

Thanks for the report. I checked it out briefly -- did you happen to mark a lot of episodes as watched manually in a short timespan (rather than using the 'mark all as watched' functions)?

Right, then I probably know why. If you mark an episode as watched the manual way, it's counted towards the current week. (As opposed to marking episodes via 'mark all'; those are not counted towards any time period at all).

If you mark a lot of episodes as watched the manual way, they would all count towards the current week, and if there's too much of them it won't be possible to render the graph anymore.

I'll write something up to correct this, soon. :)

I see that there is now a sneak peek preview of this new series "Shadowhunters" that debuts in January 2016. I would like to add it to the show page for others to view but i do not know how to do it here is a link if someone else knows how to do it please do? I know it is possible becasue I saw a few shows had clips on them? It is 4 min. & 49 seconds long.

We don't currently support videos on the show level, only on the episode level.

Bero2211 wrote 9 years ago: 1

Well the 1st episode is already setup so can it be added to the 1st episode?

Try the show status dashboard http://www.tvmaze.com/showstatus: if you click on the icon you can mark episodes as watched in bulk. :)
