Can I get a Hallelujah

That's not too bad. What was the previous time block?

Nvm: here's the answer:

Fox is planning to cut the amount of commercials during its programs down to 2 minutes per hour by 2020. That’s a huge drop from the current average ad time of 13 minutes per hour on broadcast and 16 minutes per hour on cable

It may make watching live TV bearable again.

I'm assuming the ads themselves will be shortened but the same amount will be shown.

Somehow I am pretty sure that they will manage to find another way of income which is gonna be bothersome too

I wonder if there will be increased ads during a show (the banner ones at the bottom) in order to compensate.

True True. I've turned off shows on CTV here in Canada when almost 25% of the screen is taken up with the network bug, bottom promo and then an even larger promo slides in from the side ... it's ridiculous ... I wait till a clean version becomes "available"

Maybe product placement in the shows? One that came to mind was the show Chuck and how they did that with Subway, I believe.

The great thing about that is it, if done well, isn't annoying and it lasts forever! I'm a fan of Old Time Radio (OTR) and shows from the 1930s to 1950s often had the sponsors name in the title, and/or the ads woven into the show with the stars ... and here we are in some cases over 80 years later and the ad is till "running"!

1932 - 1933 - The Canada Dry Ginger Ale Program staring Jack Benny

1934 - 1942 - The Jell-O Program Starring Jack Benny

1942 - 1944 - The Grape Nuts Flakes Program Starring Jack Benny

... and that's just one guy.

Ya! Thanks for reminding me ... summer in SWOntario near Detroit where I used to live it was the same only with severe TStorm and/or Tornado warnings eating up gobs of screen space ... it was, especially July~August, like 2 out 3 nights with that crap ... and if anything did happen, boom! Cut in for a live weather report from some poor knob outside in pelting rain letting us know it's raining ... ya, I just saw the cow fly by my living room window ...thanks for letting me know the bleeding obvious. :)
