TVRage gone for good or not

That depends on the explanation provided, if any. :) (checks email) Nope, I still haven't heard one.
I'm not too familiar with Twitter, but all I'm seeing there is a hashtag, RageReturningSoon. That and the message on the "tvrage homepage." Is there something I'm missing?

And now the link at tvrage.com to Smallville doesn't work.

I'm referring to Ben's own twitter where he since the site went down has continued to say that he is working on getting it back and that he has the data from the site from the day it went down, so seems like he (without much luck) are trying to solve whatever is going on. Regardless i'd say it would have to be one hell of an explanation to make it okay to not even let upper staff like you know what the deal is.

Spoke with Ben yesterday to see if he could provide any info on the situation, but he doesn't know anything either.
Seems whoever is trying to restore the site doesn't think it's important to keep the site manager in the loop.

Queenie that is so strange because if I remember correctly Gadfly said he looked at Ben's Twitter page a few days ago and he had not added anything over there in over a month?

Jan, you would think if he cares at all about trying to get the site back up or about the people who are still members over there that he would at least try and tells us something and not just give a Sgt. Schultz answer? There are many ways to leave a message for people on the Internet as you know facebook page, twitter page send email to your old and should be still current staff etc. Even if it is just to say publicly "We have not gone away permanently as we have had programmers working feverishly for almost a month now trying to figure out what went wrong and trying to get the site back on line"! Not saying 1 word publicly regardless if he knows anymore than that just tells us he does not care about the members at all!

That worries me to wonder where his head is at and if the site ever does come back up some year how many old members may/might return knowing that no one cares about them enough to try and pass on something!

I'm not seeing it on Ben's twitter, thus my confusion. This is the link I'm seeing, and the last Tweet is dated 9/20. It's not 1+ months ago, but it's not very informative, either.

Ben has tweeted that the database is safe as of the day it went down and that he's waiting on the owners to answer back and other messages since then. That message on tvrage means someone with access to the server/domain has been able to put that message up. Or it was hijacked, from whois, the domain is still in the name of the same person (i think). Ben posted on the 20th of september he was taking a few days, nothing since then and then that weird message came up on the site. So soemthing /soeone is trying...

Thanks Tonks not much there as I read every tweet back to 8 September, 3 days after the BOMB went off! No explanation as what happened, no updates in over the last 2 weeks it's still pretty sad!

Tweeted to who? At the link you provided (which is the link I provided :) ), there's nothing I can find saying that the database is safe. So it doesn't seem to be a public tweet.

The other thing is that the message at TVRage is anonymous, which doesn't bode well. If it was Sebrioth, you think he'd sign it. So either someone has taken over the domain, or Sebrioth is still hiding behind relative anonymity. Neither is very reassuring.

Yes this is true!

If you choose the tab called tweets and replies you can read his replies to people that have tweeted him and its in one of those he says the data is safe. But yeah nothing since the 20th

Ah, tried that, but didn't dig down all the way to... September 10.

But yeah, of course he's going to say that the data is safe. What's the alternative? "Sorry, it's gone, too bad, everyone." He's just going by what Sebrioth tells him, though.

If Ben is in contact with Jan, I'd suggest Jan tell him to post here if Ben can give more than a generic press statement, and answer some questions. My guess is that Ben can't, though. All he can do is pass them onto Seb, and Seb isn't answering.

Here https://twitter.com/BenDrummond21/status/641913109...

the best way to see what a person tweet, is the second tab "tweet and replies"

You can check the other replies, he's saying the same thing. I can't say if he wa being truthful, you knew him, i don't/didn't.

He's never been a heavy twitterer though.

Gadfly wrote 10 years ago: 1

I'm sure that Ben is telling the truth. As far as he knows.

But all he's truthfully saying is what Seb tells him. Ben isn't in Belgium, he never had access to the server directly. Or if he did, he never let on or did anything to suggest that he had such access.

Ben wasn't a heavy twitterer, or a heavy emailer, or a heavy forum poster. Neither was Seb in recent years. Therein lies the problem...

Well it's all here say until we see an official statement somewhere from Ben or Roger and then can we really believe what they say or if it is really them speaking? As you say Gad, Roger has been in hiding for almost 2 years now, not 1 comment on RAGE when it was up and never responded to any PM's and I sent him more than 20 over that time period!

I heard from Seb/Roger several times in the last two years, in PMs and forums. In situations of.. major crisis, as it were. But anyone could check his posting history in the forums and see that his public responses were waaayyy down from 5/7/10 years ago.

I wouldn't say that he was hiding. But his day-to-day concerns were keeping TVRage going, and raising enough money to keep it going. That didn't leave much time for anything else.

And now there's even weirder messages on the non-functional site:

To me this looks that someone tries to make a "new" tvrage from archives, Ben said that he has nothing to do with this and that he is also out of the loop. maybe the domain got hacked and the ones that hacked it cannot figure out what to do now....either way, I am pretty sure or let's say almost 100% sure that the old tvrage will never be back...

cheers
Juan

I'm just getting a completely blank page now, no error, no holdingsite like before. So i guess that means it's definitely gone for good.
