TVRage gone for good or not

Morning_Star wrote 9 years ago: 1

Well, I was logged in. I'm not anymore and am facing the same kind of login issues I'm hearing about. I was actually considering trying to do some updating despite the issues that are still present - like Episode Info being blank, absent Guest Stars, and the Main Cast is all bollixed up in spite of everything looking otherwise updated - but if I can't log in, then I guess there's nothing to do. Well, I can do one thing: go through and start saving my work because the Internet Archive didn't do its job very well, leaving a significant chunk of my contributions floating in limbo. With the exceptions of what I mentioned, Hannibal is still updated, so I know they're pulling it from where the site left off. That's good because that guide was the one I had the most difficulty in trying to recover from the Internet Archive. I just want to save everything in case it sinks again and never resurfaces.

To be honest, I almost dreaded the return of TVRage because as much as I was so hesitant about this site, I've gotten so used to it. However, as many advantages TVMaze has over TVRage - and there are many - it also has several disadvantages. So I suppose my gameplan is to kind of straddle the two, or at least until one got the best of both worlds.

That is all so true!

I've just tried TV Rage and it works for me.

Someone posted on TV Rage that KingJohn23 died in a car crash. Does anyone know if this is this true?

Besides Supernatural above, I checked four other shows. Two had episode lists, screencaps, quotes, and recaps, but no valid guest stars or main stars. One had no episode info. One, the search took me to an entirely different episode.

So while it's "working", technically, it looks like it has a ways to go before it will ever be functional as far as data is concerned.

I imagine logins will be problematic for a while. Editors and trusted contributors would potentially have submission access, and it doesn't look like the site is ready to display the information it has, much less add new information.

I also noticed shows have wrong plot summaries (Da Vinci's Inquest and ReGenesis are the only exceptions I've found so far) and looking at people pages, most individual episodes are blank. Episode availability seems to be random; some have all episodes, some none, and others are from another show. I did encounter some redirects initially, but they seem to have been fixed. However, when I searched "Scream", I see the actual Scream series with the wrong image and a completely different show with its main image, yet both direct to the same show with the correct image. It's so fecking bizarre it's almost entertaining.

I can't help but think the login thing was deliberate because I can imagine (and hope) they're trying to get everything back to normal and don't won't people's editing complicating it.

I just asked for a password reset. Worked just fine.
But yes it's a mess in there :-(

Will just log in daily, click some banners and hope it helps TVRage a little.
First place i felt home. Hope it survives.

In the meantime TVMaze is still a LOT better than TVcom and IMDb. (imho)

You are lucky as I have tried way more than a dozen times today to have my password reset and have yet to receive even 1 email from that site!

i got a new password as well, no problem. But the site is super slow...

jaguar, did you try with your user name instead of your email ?

I just checked a few shows, nothing is at the right place...

My contrib history is correct though, except it's not showing in the guides ;)

And i have to say, having that quick show menu back is a blessing. i'm hugging it right now ^^

I have tried my email many times and I have also tried just using my Username only but still no emails from there yet.

I haven't received anything on my email. But then again, I was using a TVRage email account. And guess what else shut down when TVRage went down...

JAGUARDOG wrote 9 years ago: 1

Well it's back down again but what's new? The site seems to have no one in charge or at least they don't want to reveal themselves which ever it may be. It's like the site is running itself on auto pilot with no direction. It's down then it's up then it's down again if someone is trying to bring the site up they look like they do not know what they are doing? Or maybe someone got control of the site and is just playing with it and us for fun at our expense?

Besides why would it have lost so much good information that we put into it over many years in my case over 12 years of work there?

Morning_Star wrote 9 years ago: 1

Yeah, I noticed it went off earlier today. I'm hoping it's part of the effort to finally fix all the bugs.

And I doubt now this is just someone or people dicking with us. It's a little too random for that. Like they got the site up and the Twitter account is in their control, but if they really wanted to twist the knife, they would have used the Facebook account to string us along. As the saying goes: cock-up before conspiracy. As for lost info, given the issue with the show summaries and main cast, I'd say it's most likely just... misplaced.

Well I fail to see how information in place for years can be misplaced without someone intentionally dicking with it?

Tonks wrote 9 years ago: 1

well, it's down again ;)

Morning_Star wrote 9 years ago: 1

It's back and, hey, it seems a lot of the blips have been straightened out now! Shows have the right summaries and main cast, in addition to the return of guest cast, as well as episodes. However, the Episode Info is still a blank block with the episode galleries are still missing (yeah, that was another issue I noticed later), and still no luck with logging in. It's slow, but it is getting its way back to full restoration.

Tonks wrote 9 years ago: 1

Episode info ? what's that. I might have never looked at it

I just submitted a few episodes just to see how long it will take them, but it looks like all the shows i submitted to have the right info which was not the case yesterday. Pictures or trailers for episodes are missing though, but i didn't check everywhere.

It was down for about 6 hours but it's back up again. I still cannot get that site to send me an email to reset my password. I signed up 2 days ago with a new Username and email and was using it for 2 days to browse around the site. Now today it claims the password I am using for my my new Username is invalid. Even though I know it is as I wrote it down I asked the site to send me an email to my secondary email address so it could be reset yet I have yet to receive any emails at that address either.

I must assume someone is manually controlling the password reset section and refuses to send me any emails at all at any of my email addresses?

If you could please that would be fantastic and i would be very greatful? The 2 days I was able to get into the site I posted questions in the Forum several times with not 1 response so assumed there was not any humans working there!
