Yes I believe this is so obiwan! I have got the same thing for 2 or 3 days myself!

I just got this tweet - More news is imminent - However I think it's just a ruse here are a few responses so far!
Tony Thurisaz @Chaosthefirst 16h16 hours ago
@tvrage I certainly hope it isn't negative news as my hope has been wounded by this point. Any good news is good, but the sooner the better.
Vinny the Dog @FamilyGuyVinny 18h18 hours ago
@tvrage 5+ hours later is "imminent"? Of course 11+ days is "soon" so it makes sense. Seriously though, I hope the site is coming back.
Carnegiea gigantea @cactido 13h13 hours ago
@tvrage Give an update with substance or shut the fuck up already.
Captain Mads @MMads 23h23 hours ago
@tvrage more? how about some?

Four lousy words and that's it? I agree with ALL 4 tweets especially with Carnegiea gigantea!

After being offline for that long it does not really matter anymore if it comes back or not :)
All the sites that linked to tvrage or that worked together with them have moved on and are working with other sites now and linking to other sites now.
The userbase also moved on to all the other tv related sites on the net.
Nowadays only very few sites could survive being 6 weeks offline (imdb or youtube would easily survive this), but a site like tvrage, tvmaze, buddytv and so on are dead after 6 weeks being offline without further notice.
cheers
Juan

Yeah i know, a week or two the most that a site can survive but over a month no way. I think I'm just baffled and slightly annoyed over the whole way they have dealt with the situation.

Yes, you and about a few thousand others as well my old friend!
I honestly don't know what to make of this whole thing. It seems like just as my hope begins to dive, there's some sign of progress that raises it... then nothing moves forward from there and it starts slipping again. Repeat. Either someone is making an honest effort to get it back up in the face of complications, or they're just a sadistic prick getting off on the frustration everyone is feeling about this. I'm inclined to believe the former, though.
The lack of communication is really what's killing this. I sincerely don't why there's not much talk. I can understand if it's a bunch of boring and/or technical stuff, but that's really no excuse for not being more open in general. I really hope the beans are spilled on this whole mess one day because there has to be a good reason. They can't be naive enough to believe this behaviour isn't hurting the site. Hopefully, it's not irrecoverable.
The only person who knows is the site owner, Sebrioth. Ben21 (Ben Drummond) is the only person who he talks to, and as far as I can tell he didn't and doesn't think he talks much to Ben, either.
That's the problem with a site under sole ownership. You're dependent on the sole owner.

Very good points indeed that needed to be said! I do know this that either there is a good scammer/programmer/hacker whatever they are called involved with making things appear and then the next day or so disappear or someone is honestly trying to do something good?
Example: Yesterday put in tvrage.com and it disappears from the URL box today it stays?
I however believe the former becasue as Juan mentioned 6 weeks is a long time to be down and some of the best programmers in the world would never take 1/2 that long to find the problem and fix/correct it. As far as I know there is nothing that cannot be fixed when it comes to the Internet and expert programmers! Either they hired nobody's who have no idea what they are doing or they are dragging their feet on purpose to extend the time it takes to continue getting paid?
A couple of sites I'm on linked to TVRage, and now of course the upcoming scheduling features they were providing no longer work since it appears that TVRage is defunct .
This has lead me here, and I must say this is a very nice site. Well done.
I hope the sites I use become involved by intergating your api and contributing to your effort.

Some sites already switched to our api and thanks for your kind words :)

So it seems we now know that the owner sold the site. Which sounds bad, but there is clearly someone trying to resurrect it. So the questions have now shifted to what it is the fecking hold-up and when will we finally see the rewards of our patience? And if the person who stopped talking to anyone when the site was up is now out of the picture, then why is there no better communication about this?
By the way, does anyone else think the TVRage twitter page is being run by Ben? The location is different and it's not implausible that he would have access to it. It just feels deceptive, though. However, it would support my hypothesis that his "going away for a few days" was just a way of escaping from the expectations he kept propping up because he probably genuinely didn't believe it would take this long. Poor guy. I sincerely believe he's doing his best and stands by the site, but is in the one getting the heat for being the public voice in this. Of course, if it isn't Ben who sent those last two teaser tweets, then it means we have someone else in the mix and is a bit encouraging. But I am tired of the lag in progress.

The site will not come back that is for sure, at least not the tvrage you all knew.
What brings me to the question, why would anyone want that page still back ?
It was a mess for at least 2 years, no interaction with the users, a dead forum, no development for years, more and more features broke and were not repaired and so on.
But humans tend to cling to the past, no matter how bad or screwed up it was....the past is always better as now...at least this is what most humans believe...
cheers
Juan
If nothing else, it depends on where the data on TVRage ends up. So if new owners take over and they have the same database (shows, episode listings, actors & biography info, galleries), and they address the issues you raise, Juan, it seems like the "new" site would be fairly impressive.
The ship has probably already sailed, if it could ever have been built. But you guys merging your format and responsiveness with TVRage's data would have been the ideal solution to creating a near-perfect site. Based on discussions, maybe that's what you intend on an unofficial basis. But Seb agreeing to package and hand over the data would still have been a better alternative.
(Whether he would have or not is another question.)
If TVRage comes back, I don't know what it will be like. But I'm willing to judge it on its own merits rather than cling to the past, for good or bad.

And yet... TVRage "succeeded" despite that, in most meaningful senses of the word. It didn't succeed for you, obviously. But I think I'm safe in saying it succeeded for most of the people who were going there. And that was a lot of people.
So if it succeeded despite the things you cite it lacked, TVMaze is going to need to provide more than those things, if it wants to succeed.
And if staff here thinks TVMaze is succeeding, great. But... Seb thought TVRage was succeeding, too. :) Speaking as one of the behind-the-scenes people, there was no behind-the-scenes "Oh my god, we're on a sinking ship!" attitude.

In agree, our site with all the data tvrage gathered over the last decade would be pretty nice :)
Wow. I randomly tried going there for the first time in forever just to see how everyone was. The ones who were still left at least. But to be honest, I'm not too surprised. The activity had gone wayyyyy down from what I've seen, and the writing had been on the wall for years. In a way, I saw this coming and am actually surprised it didn't happen sooner. Which sucks because the site had such a great start and loyal fan base the first three years or so, and was pretty active. After that it just got blander and blander and was never able to make a comeback.
I have no idea who's who here, and am not even sure who'd remember me from the old days (if anybody). I was posting from the beginning in 2005, (which is also a major bummer as I distinctly remember I had joined around Christmas that year and was SO fucking close to the ten year mark Lol) , and probably stopped coming regularly around 2008. Regulars were just dropping like flies and it just wasn't as fun anymore. Was wisecrack still running the place when it croaked? Anybody hear from him? Puremaria? Ryan? Supercool? I'm pretty sure some of these people were still *occasionally* posting there the last time I popped in. It was right around this time last year, actually. I think.
Kinda shitty to build up a community for a decade to then just drop off the face of the earth without even giving us so much as a pleasant go fuck yourselves. Seb was still the owner through and through, right? Damn man, talk about going out with a whimper...
Anyways, I've only taken a quick glance at this place, but if anybody from the rage recognizes me and wants to catch up feel free to shoot me a PM. :

Hi rsetter3,
Welcome to TVmaze. I'm sure you'll find a few familiar names on the forum.
cheers,

Welcome Rsetter3, another name that's familiar from tvrage. :) I hope you like it here.
