Ratings Roundup for the Week of October 17, 2021

CBS was the first network to announce full-season orders for their freshman shows last week. Ghosts, NCIS: Hawai'i, and FBI International all received back nine orders. No word on CSI: Vegas, which might be telling. The latest CSI incarnation also dropped a tenth, joining Bull as the low-hanging fruit for cancellation. The Equaliser dropped a tenth from its premiere but is in no danger. NCIS held at its new normal.

ABC premiered Queens last week to low numbers. Chances are, it won't last very long. The Wonder Years also slipped a tenth last week after several weeks of steady numbers. The Rookie gained a tenth last week while Big Sky was steady. Home Economics dropped a tenth and four-hundred thousand viewers. Fans should enjoy what episodes they can, as the program probably won't be renewed.

NBC premiered the ninth season of The Blacklist last week about even with where it was at the end of last season. La Brea slipped a tenth but is probably safe as Ordinary Joe lost another five hundred thousand viewers it couldn't afford. Home Sweet Home is just playing out the side as schedule filler at this point.

FOX saw the Sunday animation block yo-yo back to its normal numbers without a boost from football overruns. Alter Ego, Our Kind Of People, and The Big Leap were all even. The only real question is which one will be cancelled first. 9-1-1 and The Resident were both steady. The Masked Singer lost a tenth.

The CW chugged along last week. Batwoman and Legacies both held their premiere audience from the previous week. Penn & Teller: Fool Us lost one hundred thousand viewers, but still topped the chart for the network. Legends of the Hidden Temple and Killer Camp wallowed at the bottom of the chart with barely an audience to speak of. It's doubtful even the CW will want to keep either show with those numbers.

More full-season orders should be announced in the next week or so for freshman shows. This is the time where no news is bad news for new shows. Silence is usually the only indication fans will get that a network plans to drop their new favorite show. How are your shows doing this season?

Hope they don't nix CSI: Vegas. I was glad to hear they were bringing it back. It's still as good as the original.
