And we're back! After a couple of weeks of Olympics and the reality show/rerun schedules all of the other networks ran, we are back with ratings news. For the curious, The Super Bowl was up compared to last year with a 29.5 rating and 99.2 million viewers.
NBC will take the ratings for the Olympics, but they weren't that great. Most nights the numbers were down compared to the 2020 Games. The granddaddy of the Law & Order franchise returned to screens after a twelve-year hiatus last week. The strong opening pulled up the numbers for Law & Order: SVU and Law & Order: Organised Crime. The Endgame opened low. The new drama cannot afford to lose anything if it wants to be renewed. America's Got Talent: Extreme opened with okay numbers. The Chicago shows all returned up from where they left off before the Olympics break. The Blacklist managed yet another renewal, earning a tenth season. That's My Jam was renewed for a second season.

ABC premiered the sixth season of To Tell the Truth last week with its usual low numbers. Abbott Elementary was steady and should be renewed. The Wonder Years returned after its hiatus down a tenth. It will probably be renewed, but it can't afford to lose any more audience. In a surprise to no one move, Promised Land was yanked from the ABC schedule and will play out its remaining episodes on Hulu.

CBS had a quiet week. Celebrity Big Brother wrapped down a tenth from its premiere. Ratings for its third season were down across the board compared to previous years. Ghosts returned from the break steady. Good Sam was down a tenth and is done. Magnum PI returned even while Blue Bloods was down a tenth. Both should be renewed and will hope for a better lead-in next season.

FOX wrapped The Real Dirty Dancing last week to the relief of the network execs. Don't expect to see any more of that one. Pivoting hit a new low and is also done. The Cleaning Lady and The Resident were both down as well but should be renewed.

The CW premiered All American: Homecoming last week to okay numbers for a CW show. Parent show, All American, returned even with its last new episode. Superman & Lois took the top spot on the chart. Two Sentence Horror Stories wrapped another pathetic season. It will be low hanging fruit to cancel for any new owners of the network.

We are entering the final stretch for the 2021-22 season. The few remaining holdover shows for Spring will be premiering in the next few weeks. The general rule is, these are shows the networks have low confidence in, so it might be best not to get too attached to any of them. How are your favorite shows doing?

Law & Order is back!! :)
More than likely this is true. Good Doctor wasn't supposed to return until April, I think, which would have been after the full run of Promised Land.
That show Promised Land getting pulled must be why the Good Doctor returning so early. And as for my favorite shows, I'm still waiting to hear if/when they'll be renewed.
