Genevieve O'Reilly

Genevieve O'Reilly is an Irish-Australian actress, born on January 6, 1977, in Dublin and raised in Adelaide from age ten. After three attempts, she entered Sydney's National Institute of Dramatic Art, graduating in 2000 before building a major stage career. Early screen roles included The Matrix Reloaded and Diana: Last Days of a Princess, in which she portrayed Diana. O'Reilly later appeared in The Honourable Woman, Tin Star, Tolkien and The Dry. She first portrayed senator Mon Mothma in 2005's Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, although most of her scenes were cut. Returning years later for Rogue One and Star Wars Rebels, she transformed the once-minor figure into a layered political protagonist in Andor. Her restrained depiction of Mon's public composure, private fear and moral sacrifice brought widespread acclaim and two Saturn Award nominations, making the role a defining achievement of her career.
