Right now indeed both "airdate unknown yet" and "this episode will never air" should be handled by leaving

I never would have found this site.

It never aired the 3rd episode, but it was released early online on nbc.com.

Official listings never seem to classify them as part of a current season, so why should we?

Im my opinion a special should never have an episode number, the networks also do not give them one.
