As this is a massive entry, could you open a new thread in which we can discuss this, I do not want to delete such a huge show too quickly :)

JuanArango, tnt:

Request reconsideration for deleting National Geographic Documentaries at http://www.tvmaze.com/shows/20218/national-geographic-documentaries.

First of all, I love documentaries and National Geographic Channel is one of my favorites. Imagine how pleased I was to find this "series" on TheTVDB.com at https://www.thetvdb.com/?tab=series&id=80995&lid=7. Then to find it on our TVmaze only a couple of weeks ago ... fantastic! I finally had a collective place to begin recording the many I've seen since my retirement.

tnt, you are correct based on the definition of a TV show as you quote from TVmaze policy. But someone body went to an awful lot of effort and time to compile this list with shows back to 1965.

Can someone check with National Geographic and ask if they consider this an agreeable and accurate way to represent their material? If they don't object, then why should we with TVmaze? Maybe the definition for TV shows should be expanded with documentary collections in mind; obviously with careful wording.

Anyway, these are my thoughts and wanted to let you know. I was just in the series and saw it is scheduled for deletion seven hours ago. Sorry that I could not find the new thread on this topic. Please guide me to it.

Thank you both as always.

We're discussing this matter among the staff now. The things are pending for deletion for a reason. If proof to be found that the series is legit, it will be un-deleted. Meanwhile the warning should stop anyone to contribute to the series which might be deleted. If you have more information on the matter, please share with us.

Right now this show does not match our policy of what we call a series, it does not even have a page on the official network, it seems those are "just" all one-off documentaries that are shows on NGC over the decades. We could then list all one-off documentaries shown by all channels around the globe. This would also open the can of worms for all one-off TV movies. I can fully understand your concern though, but if we allow this show, it could open a Pandora's box for TVmaze.

Thanks for the update. Searching Google hasn’t been as helpful as I would like. But there are some phone numbers at https://www.nationalgeographic.com/contact/. I doubt I would be very successful calling this weekend. But I will try next week. I hope to find someone that will verify listing National Geographic Documentaries or Specials as a group going back to the start in 1965 is a viable concept.

Then I'll report back hopefully with a point of contact for you. Someone at a higher administrative level at TVmaze than me as a Contributor will probably need to verify specifics to be satisfied that National Geographic Documentaries will fit website policy enough to keep it listed.

I believe in trying to find a way to justify keeping it on the site. I realize it's ultimately not my decision. But I'll do my best to seek information for the staff. If you want me to do anything different, let me know.

Thanks for everything.

I just saw your new post after I just responded to tnt. Yes, I can see these are good points that you make. But should I proceed in calling National Geographic as I described in my post to tnt? Thanks.

All information is helpful, it would be great if you can call NGC and tell us what they say about this matter. :)

I’ll do it. Please tell me if there is a better place on the website (like another thread) for these exchanges. I’ll update you as soon as I can next week.

No, looks like the same user actually created all entries like this. Deleting it is the only option.

Ok, I'll sort it out manually then. There's no need to delete something, that can be fixed in other way :)
