Ratings Roundup Week of April 29, 2018

NBC is still keeping mum about it's renewals, but it did wrap three of it's shows last week. AP Bio, Good Girls, and Superstore all finished for the year. Superstore is already renewed, Good Girls should be renewed, and AP Bio is most likely canceled. Timeless saw a bit of a bump, probably not enough to save it though. Rise was steady, but it's likely done as well.

ABC renewed American Idol last week, no real surprise, the competition show has done well for the network. ABC also premiered Dancing with the Stars to less than fantastic numbers. Roseanne has left the stratosphere and rejoined reality with its numbers, it may fall another tenth or two, but its ratings have leveled off. Deception had a nice bump last week, gaining two tenths; The Crossing however lost two tenths and it's not looking good for the sci-fi show.

CBS still hasn't offered any news for most of its comedies, they must want something to talk about at their upfronts. MacGyver wrapped it season with low numbers. Elementary premiered about where it was last season. Instinct and Ransom were both steady; of the two Instinct might squeak through but Ransom is done.

FOX announced the renewal of Empire last week, no real shock, only surprise was there was no announcement for Star at the same time. LA To Vegas wrapped its season, now it's wait as see for fans to know if its early numbers were enough to secure a second season. Lethal Weapon dropped a couple of tenths, possibly due to rumors about set issues with star Clayne Crawford. The show should be renewed assuming the personnel issues are resolved.

The CW has a workmanlike week last week. Supergirl and Supernatural swapped spots on the chart, and for once Life Sentence was not the lowest rated show for the network, though it was in a race to the bottom with iZombie.

The 2017-18 season is winding down, did you find any new shows this year?

Valor also canceled by The CW

Lethal Weapon, season 2 finale airs tonight (Tuesday May 8th), still has the rumour circulating that they are looking to recast 'Riggs' due to on set problems with Clayne Crawford ... whatever the case, I hope we get a chance to see season 3.

Edit: Other sites are reporting Crawford has actually been fired.

@viscera693028 the 2.4 & 2.6 is a measurement of viewers aged 18-49 (aka Key Demo or just The Demo) ... a target group most advertisers like to target. The 12.9 & 10.4 is the raw total viewers of any age ... those aged 50 to 150 don't count in the demo which is why a few years ago NBC canceled their highest rated show (total viewers) Harry's Law because most viewers were outside the 18-49 age range. Another figure you may see, the Share, is a percentage of homes who are watching TV at that point who are tuned into a particular show.

Life Sentence has been canceled. Last episode airs in a few days. The 100 has been renewed.

@viscera693028 The Big Bang Theory and Roseanne do not air on the same night, they are not in direct competition. Different nights will have a different spread of viewers. It's the same reason NCIS will have a 1.2 rating and 12 million viewers while Chicago PD can have that same 1.2 but only draw 6 million viewers.

Thank you for the enlightenment. That Makes More sense now. I just didnt realize why the difference, but different nights and all makes sense. Be Well........

Hey gmpugs: I hear that Living Biblically remaining episodes will run on Saturday nights come summer time. For the record Johnny Gelieckie of The Big Bang Theory, that was his first show of producing and want to say part creator as well. I too like it.

viscera693028 posted 7 years ago

How can The Big Bang Theory get 2.4 = 12.9 and Roseanne get 2.6 = 10.4? I mean, IF a rating of 2.4 brings in 12.9.million people watching.

Then how does a 2.6 rating bring in less then 2.4, and only bring in 10.4Mill folks watching? I think something isn't quite right here. Just Saying...

I've kinda lost track of SEAL Team. Thought LA to Vegas was far more fun than it had any right to be, would be nice if it got a second season. The Orville just blew me away with how well done it was.

gmpugs posted 7 years ago

Of the new shows this season that I watched and liked/kinda liked: I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed Young Sheldon. I also liked Kevin Probably Saves the World, and LA to Vegas, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed they get renewed. I liked The Mayor and Living Biblically and was kinda bummed that they didn't get to finish out the episodes that they had. Oh well. And Marvel's Inhumans slightly beat my low expectations, so if it doesn't get a season 2, I won't be disappointed about it.
