The CW joined the rest of the broadcast networks by premiering their regular season last week. No real surprise that Walker garnered one of the biggest audiences the network has seen in years. The question is, now that the looky-loos have had a taste of Jared Padalecki's new series, will they be back? Batwoman premiered its second season to low numbers. The cast change does not appear to have gone well. All American and Legacies both had a good opening, about even with where they ended last season. Riverdale and Nancy Drew both lost a tenth from their last episodes before the COVID shutdown. They were up against inauguration coverage on the other networks, which likely didn't help.

FOX premiered its 9-1-1 franchise last week, with both programs airing on the same night instead of the staggered schedule from last season. Parent show, 9-1-1 was down a tenth from its average last season. 9-1-1 Lone Star was about even. The Great North followed the NFC division playoffs and picked up a huge audience as a result. Too bad the next new episode won't air for a month, any audience gains are likely to be lost with the delay. Call Me Kat was steady.

CBS may be seeing the end of the NCIS heyday. Back-to-back episodes did manage to gain a tenth from the last new episode that aired in December, however, it may be safe to say that gone are the days of a 1.0 or better rating for the veteran program. The Thursday comedy block returned after a month off. Young Sheldon, Mom, and B Positive all gained a tenth from their last new episodes. The Unicorn was steady but low. Its chances for another season are dwindling. Magnum PI and Blue Bloods gained a tenth. MacGyver was even.

Lots of premieres this week, and the CW will be trickling out more premiere episodes over the coming weeks. So what new shows are you watching?
Written by LadyShelley on Jan 25, 2021
I think that's the difference between an organic inclusion (and Walker's was pretty organic. I've lived in Texas, some the of the things Ramirez brought up about her family in the pilot are very real.) and a production standing up and screaming Look At Us. Aren't We Wonderful. We're Making A Statement(tm), which is what it sounds like The Rookie is doing (and Doctor Who certainly is doing.)
The rookie are running a complete subplot on racism and displaying blm cups it's very obvious what they are doing.
Not sure why I used dangerous more annoying trend that would start putting of viewers and affecting shows viewing figures potentially

I don't know about 'dangerous'. :)
I thought the mention in Walker was much more subtle than say anything else on the CW or what Chibnall is doing with Doctor Who at the moment. I stopped watching The Rookie, so I don't know how they handled things. There's acknowledging ethnic characters and blending their personal challenges into the overall stories and plots of a show, and then there's beating the viewer about the head with a particular message, sacrificing the story and plot to make a statement. I much prefer the first.
Any one noticed how the shows now make sure they mention POC walker did it and the Rookie it's a dangerous trend.
Consider me a lookie-loo for Walker. At first I was planning on only watching the pilot, though by the end of that episode, I'm giving the second episode (at least) a try. For the CW shows on Wednesday, I almost forgot that new stuff premiered and watched them the following day on my dvr.
Well, the original had a very simple premise: each week Chuck Norris kicked some serious sh*t out of yet another bunch of bad guys, in slo-motion ))) No big drama, no sniveling, no substance abuse, just punches and high-kicks.
Yeah, I suppose it could get better in time, but IMO they should've just left this particular dead horse alone, and name it anything but "Walker" :)
I only kinda sorta watched the original. It was fine, but I didn't go looking for it each week. I recorded the first episode of Walker, I still need to sit down ad watch it, will probably do that tonight. The reviews I've seen of the premiere episode are lukewarm at best, but pilots are rarely good episodes, so that doesn't mean much to me. I can guarantee, though, that the show will be renewed, so they have time to work out the kinks and potentially build a good series.
As a big fan of the original series, I was expecting the new Walker with mixed feelings. And I was totally disappointed.
I will probably give it a second chance this week, to see where it will go, but I don't keep my hopes up.
At this point, I'm really curious, how many viewers will be back.
