I assume we'd better wait when Channel 5 is putting it officially on their page, but if it is not on their site with the UK, it should be removed by then.

This series "The Wiggles" is not/was not an animated series therefore this show photo is NOT appropriate - http://www.tvmaze.com/shows/10576/the-wiggles

It's an appropriate photo. There are quite many children shows using a poster like these for shows, even not animated ones to promote it to Children and these stuff attracts them more to buy it, but I have added a second one.

The second one is a Great one and more appropriate. I understand what you are saying however an animated photo should only be used if the show is animated, children or not!

If that is not the policy here it should be?

It's a kid show. Animation with these kind of shows are very common. It just depends what their art company has been hired for to create.

Do you not know the difference between an Animated Show and a show that is not Animated. All that you have said does not prove anything why an Animated photo s/b use on an non-animated show!

I'll fight to the death on this one so maybe you should not try to go any further?

I'm a bit confused: is the live-action image the first one or the second one? Currently the live-action one appears to be the "main image." But in the gallery, the animated image is the second image. But Ron is saying the "second one" is a great one and more appropriate.

The show itself is non-animated, right? And the current main image is non-animated. So I'm not seeing what the problem is. They seem to match, and Thomas has said that while the animation image is appropriate for the gallery, it's not appropriate for the main image.

(I"d post the link, but it just inserts the youtube video, which I don't want to do. So take out the spaces if necessary to view.)

That said, there seem to be several non-animated images that are more "appropriate," insofar as they don't include the word "tour". I've posted two in the gallery as non-main images: one has the female character and the show title, one has the non-female fourth member and no show title.

FYI, it looks like the four males were the original members, and later most of them were replaced The woman, Emma Watkins, is in the later incarnation. I'm not sure which is more appropriate to display for a show image.

Oddly, there's no cast listed for the show other than Wiggly Commuity (sic) Announcment (sic). I'll add them later if I get the time (and if no one beats me to it).

The animated one was first as main. I just changed it for an other one

Sorry, I meant above "But in the gallery, the live image is the second image."

I guess I'm still unclear why the one with "Tour" on it would be appropriate. I can see why an image from the tour (what I assume is a VHS/DVD case) it would be acceptable if there were no other images from the TV show. But... there are. It's not even an image that comes up in the first 20-30 images that come up on a straight Google search.

The photo came up with the TVDB photo importer which is available for heads :)

Gadfly wrote 9 years ago: 1

Ah. So anything that TVDB has is "appropriate"? Or does TVDB import them from the 'net in general?

Because the question then arises, can you replace (not delete) the TVDB imported image with a better one as the main image?

We do not permit you from changing it though. There might be better ones available and you can always change them, however TVDB is using fanmades and official ones, but it has always references to that specific show :).

However we strongly recommend to use them as they are the perfect size :)

Gadfly wrote 9 years ago: 1

Wait, we're not permitted to change them, but we can always change them? I get the impression from the above that we can change them. But even if no one can change them, that leaves the vast majority of contributors who wouldn't know better.

What is the perfect size? I'd be glad to use it, and I think I'm pretty close. But having the exact specifications would be helpful.

Thanks!

Sorry, that was a mistake from my side. I meant to say that you are allowed to change them.. Well there is not really a perfect size as it will be cropped somehow too into a smaller photo, however banners and photos that are way too small will become blur too.

For sizes, I would say 300x400 would be a nice balance or bigger ;)

Gadfly wrote 9 years ago: 1

Thanks!

Usually I go 250 with width for poster and approximate the height to roughly that proportion. For width on galleries (and thus episode screencaps), 550 width and approximate on the height for landscape. There are exceptions: widescreen shows like Spoils of and Utopia come to mind.

Basically a 2.5 to 2 proportion, either poster or landscape.

Any particular DPI?

I haven't read this entire thread, but to clarify: the size of the images is unlimited. The bigger the better; if we want it to be smaller we'll resize it. The aspect ratio does matter, for posters it's around 0,70.

david, please make sure everyone with higher access are aware of this. As in some cases, when I have returned to a page I've submitted a high quality image to, someone has replaced it by the exact same image (but resized before submitting), and my original image deleted. And I don't understand why, since the site resizes images automatically, so there is no need to submit already resized and compressed low quality images. (And yes, the aspect ratios were good, and were not changed on the replacements.)

Let us know when it happens again and we will contact them. It's usually the bigger and better yeah ;)
