Yes it seems Thomas and I have a different take on this, that is why I want to wait till david and jan are back tomorrow and say something about it.
Meanwhile, could you link me to a few images that were removed, so that i can see for myself ?
thx alot
Juan

If I link you to the shows then can you still see the images that were deleted. Anything that was deleted I replaced with a completely different image except the one used for 'Gogglesprogs'

The problem is, that if there is only ONE photo in the gallery, it is automatically the main image, if you do not want it as the main image and you cannot find another one, then you can only delete it or let it stay as main image.

Well that is a good point that I forgot about however if that is the case and 1 of u 4 must remove that 1 photo then it would be appropriate to PM the person who put it there to let them know why you removed it in other words we are back to the communication issue once again as a courtesy do you not agree with that?

Now I have received many a PM from Thomas when he has replaced, removed or changed anything I have done and I greatly appreciate his courtesy in doing that 4 me!

The PM system is (right now) only available for Curating Contributors and higher, so if a Trusted Contributor removes something, s/he isn't able to PM you for that.
If you're lower than a Curating Contributor, you can only reply on received PM's

Then maybe that also needs to be looked at as well? I fell strongly that only the Top 4 s/b able to remove photos and this needs to be discussed at least until the PM system is available to all TC if that ever happens since we have been promised it was coming for more than 3 months and no word as of it's status in that long as well!

We/I continue to be told it's coming, it's coming just be patient but a person can be so patient so long until it gets frustrating assumming you are being strung along? I have not seen 1 New feature in months so what is being done?

I must admit that I shouldn't have deleted that one though Tom. That was my bad. this one seems fine to me.

The problem we are having is that a pm system might kill our forum and we like to have as many as possible going through our forums :)

I think we should start having access to the PM system only by Trusted Contributors (and higher offcourse), so they can message other people if they've deleted something and why

Ron, there are some new features implemented recently.

Organizing Guest Cast by Category - The guest cast is seperated now on the guest cast page, this was wanted by alot of people.
Also the Display the number of episode in the current season has been done, which was also wanted by alot of people :)

cheers
Juan

The Display episode thing is way overdue and a GREAT additional so thank you all for that one. As far as the Guest Cast one I have no clue what that even means, what the change is as I do not understand what I should be looking for can you provide a link to an example so I can see it please?

That still does not tell us what is taking so long to implement the PM system across the board yet?

Also we need to re-open the discussion on removing/deleting photos of people and shows in a new thread especially why TC's can do that and I believe only you Top 4 s/b able to do it until a PM system is installed for all.

Also if someone removes a photo we need to get a PM from that person telling us why it was removed please?

All of these issues I mentioned earlier in the thread and not one has been touched one by one of you 4 POB's.

Seconded.

I can send PMs as well, as a Curator Contributor, but I haven't found a need to use it for policy issues except in... three cases. None of them had to do with removing photos.

Gadfly wrote 9 years ago: 1

I should say, "Seconded, if we're talking about a moderated system."

If someone is going along and checking entries for "correctness," even if it's after the fact, it sounds more like a moderated system than an open-edit system.

I've worked with open-edit database systems, and in that case, no, you don't typically tell the original contributors that something they did was changed. In which case whoever"accidentally" spotted the issue would just make the change.

In a moderated database system, you do tell the contributor. Or you have a moderator who doesn't accept it in the first place and tells them why it's not being accepted.

That's what I meant earlier about trusting contributors, whether they're Trusted Contributors or not. If staff wants an open-edit system, well... you trust the contributors.Let them fight it out for what is "best" image during the normal give and take of contributing and editing.

If staff is going to get actively involved in moderating and proofing, then Seconded for them notifying people when they make changes and deletions.

I personally hate a moderated system especially if it is anywhere near like the one we had at Rage. This leaves the Moderators to make their own personal decisions and they begin to act like GOD almighty and do whatever they want when they want with no consequences to their actions and them saying "This is the way the staff or head person wants it to be" and us having no way of proving they are telling the truth or just making things up to suit themselves. This causes a lot of hatred and resentment towards those moderators and untrust and the system slowly falls apart until they shut the site down.

For example photos being submitted for shows with the show titles on them to prove the photo is legit and belongs and they come along and either cutoff the title to suit them or replace the photo altogether without a title on it. Whose to say the photo with no title really truly belongs to that show the moderator that's who!

I agree, if we remove a photo we should pm the user that has uploaded it, that makes definitely sense to me.

Thanks, btw I can't remove photos, nor would i ever do it if I could however I just now replaced a photo of this person "John Stocker" because whoever put the photo there well let me say they must have been on something because the photo was a cartoon and not a human person photo which is now in his gallery. I would however suggest you might want to PM them and tell them that cartoon photos of a person or not allowed, if it was a character they might be different but not their real self please? - http://www.tvmaze.com/people/57014/john-stocker/ga...

Yes, I think someone thought it was a character photo, thx for replacing it :)

Guys,

I am not going to send you messages if you keep adding these kind of photos as posters to shows; Link to Photo

It is pretty obvious that those photos are not correct from our point of view and telling me that people will take effort to add these photos is simply a wrong excuse... We try to avoid a 'clusterfuck'

Cheers,

Cheers,

I agree with you Thomas using a photo like that makes no sense whatsoever. If there is not a good Poster Photo with the title then the 2nd option s/b a person doing something like interviewing or behind a desk, with a microphone something to that effort so it at least it looks like it is a screen shot from the show not just a photo of a person and nothing going on like that one is simply put a stupid choice!

Gadfly wrote 9 years ago: 1

I agree it's not the best photo. The question is, what happens when it is the only photo? No other options, no other choices.

If there's a better photo, then the person deleting it should be replacing it with the photo that they've found that is better.

If there isn't a better photo, then it should be left as-is.

I don't understand why a gray square is better or more correct than a headshot of the main person on the show. If the policy says that a gray square is better than something, than that's simply a wrong excuse.

As stated before, if you can't find a suitable yet, leave it blank. Others might find one. It's not an excuse, it is a system to avoid having a clusterfuck with photos on tvmaze.
