Born in London, England, Nicolas Coster began training in his teens at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London and continued to hone his craft, studying with Lee Strasberg and performing on stage. His early roles in 1953 included uncredited appearances in Titanic, The Desert Rats, Sea of Lost Ships and an episode in Your Favorite Story. He landed what would become the first of several soap opera roles, as Prof. Paul Britton in the 1954 daytime soap The Secret Storm, but it was in 1984 that he became known as Lionel Lockridge in the daytime soap Santa Barbara. His final credit guest appearance is in the 2024 Apple TV series Palm Royale.
Nicolas Coster died of complications from myelodysplastic syndrome at the age of 89
